Underground Development Miner, MacLean Bolter

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Are you an experienced underground mining professional with strong mechanized bolting skills and a commitment to safe, efficient production? Do you thrive in a fast-paced underground environment where teamwork, communication, and attention to workplace conditions are essential? If you are proficient in installing ground support using MacLean bolting equipment, we want you on our team!
Role Overview
As Underground Development Miner, MacLean Bolter, you will support underground development by safely installing ground support using mechanized MacLean bolting equipment. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, you will help identify unsafe conditions, install and repair underground services, track work progress, and communicate workplace status to support safe and efficient mine operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ground Support Installation: Install ground support using mechanized bolting equipment in underground headings.
- Workplace Safety: Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings and perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Services Installation and Repair: Install and repair services in underground headings as required.
- Equipment Operation: Complete pre-operational inspections and operate equipment safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site expectations.
- Communication and Progress Tracking: Keep track of work progress and communicate workplace status to the supervisor.
What You Bring to the Table
- 5-7 years of underground mining experience, including experience working safely in underground headings.
- Minimum 2 years of MacLean bolting experience, with proficiency in installing ground support using a mechanized bolter preferred.
- Accreditation in basic common core and specialty common core.
- Ability to comprehend engineering prints and apply them effectively in the workplace.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and maintain a strong safety focus.
- Passion for safe underground mining practices and contributing to a high-performing operations team.

Working Conditions
- 10-hour shifts following 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.
- Underground work environment at Young-Davidson Mine in Matachewan, Ontario.

Salary Range: $40.23 CAD/hour to $46.20 CAD/hour
The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
