Job Opportunity

Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our operations team:

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Alamos Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a long-term track record of creating value for all stakeholders through solid financial performance, low-cost production growth, and a company-wide commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. We currently operate three mines – two in Canada and one in Mexico – and we have a strong portfolio of development stage projects, including the Lynn Lake Project and Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion in Canada, and Puerto Del Aire Project in Mexico. Alamos also has an early-stage exploration project in Canada, the Qiqavik Gold Project. Our core values of safety, teamwork, environmental sustainability, integrity, and commitment allow our more than 1,900 dedicated team members to thrive in their careers and to create a lasting legacy that benefits all Alamos stakeholders.

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

If you are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability, we would like to hear from you!

Join Us in Shaping Safe and Sustainable Mining Operations!

Are you passionate about geotechnical engineering and underground mining? Do you thrive in a dynamic, safety-focused environment where your expertise directly impacts mine stability and operational success? If you are an experienced Ground Control professional with strong analytical, technical, and leadership skills, we want you on our team!

Role Overview

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a strategic role in maintaining safe and efficient underground mining operations through the implementation and management of the Ground Control Program. Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, you will oversee Ground Control Engineers and Technicians while leading geotechnical initiatives that support mine planning, ground stability, and operational excellence.

Working closely with mine operations, technical services, and engineering teams, you will provide critical technical guidance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure adherence to ground control standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Ground Control Management: Implement, monitor, and continuously improve the site Ground Control Program.
Geotechnical Analysis: Conduct rock mass characterization, stability assessments, kinematic analysis, and seismic analysis for underground development and stoping activities.
Quality Assurance & Control: Oversee QA/QC processes related to shotcrete, ground support installation, grouting, paste fill, and ground support auditing.
Geotechnical Monitoring: Analyze and manage geotechnical instrumentation including lidar, pressure cells, piezometers, and seismic monitoring systems.
Technical Leadership: Supervise Ground Control Engineers and Technicians while providing recommendations on stope sequencing, excavation rehabilitation, re-entry procedures, and engineering design reviews.

What You Bring to the Table

Minimum 5 years of experience in underground mining operations with a focus on Ground Control and geotechnical engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is considered an asset.
Eligibility for registration or current affiliation with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng).
Experience with microseismic monitoring systems and seismic interpretation.
Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, mXrap, or other mining and geotechnical software packages.
Accreditation in Supervisory Underground Common Core Modules is considered an asset.
Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Passion for geotechnical excellence and supporting safe underground mining operations.

Why Join Us?

Be part of an organization that values safety, teamwork, commitment and integrity.
Opportunity to contribute to critical geotechnical decisions that directly impact mine performance and worker safety.
Work alongside a highly skilled team of mining professionals dedicated to operational success.
Competitive salary and benefits package.

Ready to make an impact? Apply today and bring your geotechnical expertise to a team committed to safe, innovative, and sustainable mining operations.
