Your Opportunity:

Cancer Care Alberta is seeking an Associate Manager to join the leadership team at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Associate Manager provides operational leadership for inpatient and ambulatory oncology services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care within a complex and fast-paced environment. Working closely with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and operational partners, the Associate Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of clinical operations, staffing, patient flow, quality improvement initiatives, and service delivery. This highly collaborative role serves as a key link between frontline teams and organizational priorities, supporting excellence in patient care. No two days are the same. From managing staffing and operational challenges to supporting practice changes, addressing emerging issues, leading quality initiatives, and coaching staff, the Associate Manager plays a critical role in ensuring services run effectively and efficiently. Success in this position requires strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, change management, and decision-making skills, along with the ability to navigate complexity with confidence and adaptability.

Description:

The Associate Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operational leadership of inpatient and ambulatory oncology services at the Cross Cancer Institute. Reporting to the Program Manager, the role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centred care. Key responsibilities include operational planning, staffing and workforce management, patient flow and access, resource coordination, performance management, and quality improvement. The Associate Manager ensures services are delivered effectively and efficiently while aligning with organizational priorities and operational goals. The role provides direct leadership to nursing, administrative, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and staff engagement. Through coaching, mentorship, and performance development, the Associate Manager supports a skilled and resilient workforce committed to excellence in patient care. Working collaboratively with clinical and operational partners, the Associate Manager leads and supports practice changes, improvement initiatives, and day-to-day problem-solving in a dynamic healthcare environment. The position requires strong communication, relationship-building, change management, and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to balance competing priorities and respond effectively to emerging operational challenges. Using data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement principles, the Associate Manager contributes to enhanced patient outcomes, experience, quality, and access to care.
