Your Opportunity:
Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is Calgary’s second-largest tertiary care site. Located in the city’s Southwest, it provides acute, outpatient, critical care, surgical, medical, neonatal intensive care, mental health, seniors, women’s and emergency health services. The facility is home to two units dedicated to the Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone. Each year, RGH sees approximately 47,000 Medical Outpatients. The Cardiac Diagnostics department within RGH is currently recruiting a full-time, temporary, Cardiology Technologist II. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Cardiology Technologist II is responsible for the performance of various cardiac tests, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these test results, and processing the resulting data. Additionally, the Cardiology Technologist II is responsible and accountable for daily operations of the RGH electrocardiography team in support of the vision, mission and values of Alberta Health Services. Duties include but are not limited to: Coordinating staffing and clinical work, facilitating patient flow and quality care, identifying team development and educational opportunities, assisting with quality improvement initiatives and facilitating change management as identified by and in collaboration with both the Management Team and the Clinical Nurse Educator, and overseeing unit materials and supplies. As a Cardiology Technologist, you will participate in the establishment of standards, goals and objectives and provide expertise in the selection and evaluation of new equipment. You will provide cardiology technology expertise for trans disciplinary case management and perform pacemaker technology functions on a regular ongoing basis.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist (ASRCT). Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience in the past 3 years with demonstrated knowledge and practical experience with Holter and BP monitoring. Stress testing including treadmill and bike. Minimum of 1 years of in-charge experience in the past 3 years. Strong communication and leadership skills. Experience with staff and patient mediation, problem solving and workflow coordination. Experience and ability to engage others and achieve results, and to promote and lead change within a team. Demonstrated clear pattern of personal and professional development . Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Strong leadership, coaching, critical thinking and decision-making abilities required. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment where effective organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills are required. Must be able to type and be comfortable with MS Office Suite. Experience with clinical and scheduling software required – Epic/Connect Care. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Ability to walk long distances each shift. Ability to push the ECG cart for long distances multiple times during a shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Dobutamine Stress Testing preferred. Experience utilizing an electronic scheduling system preferred Proficiency in scheduling and planning, assessing coverage needs, handling time off requests and problem solving in staffing shortages preferred. Participation in unit and/or hospital-based initiatives and committees. Previous experience preceptoring students and/or orienting new staff.
