NFS is a provincial service that is committed to providing nutritious, healthy, high-quality meal service to patients, residents, staff, visitors and the community. This position will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident and customer experience. Under the general supervision of a Food Services Supervisor, they will use strong customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to: Prepare, handle, portion and package food and beverages. Assemble trays in the kitchen. Provide patient meal delivery and pick up. Safely operate and clean industrial food service equipment. Adhere to safety, sanitation, and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines. Complete other food service duties as assigned. This position is a Regularized Relief Food Service I position. Regularized Relief staff are available primarily to cover predictable leave such as education days or vacation. During the scheduled pre-post, the department scheduler will assign the Regularized Relief staff to planned absences in order to keep consistency. During the short-term booking phase, days 0-7, when most absences are unpredictable, the Regularized Relief staff scheduled on the day of absence will be deployed based on replacement need. The successful candidate in this position will demonstrate flexibility, willingness to learn and the ability to work both in the kitchen preparing meals and on the units serving meals to patients.

Description:

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with established standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.
