Your Opportunity:
The Instructor – CNE provides leadership in planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of educational activities for nurse staff, including orientation, compulsory educational programs, clinical development and continuing education related to U58, Unit 59/ VSCU (Vascular Special Care Unit) and the Vascular and Zivot Limb Preservation Clinic. VSCU focuses on high-risk vascular patients both pre and postoperatively. It incorporates ECG and hemodynamic monitoring. The specific focus of the role is best practice initiatives that will enhance patient care and outcomes in the Vascular Surgery Program environment. This position welcomes an individual with adult teaching and learning experience, critical thinking in a clinical setting and creativity to meet the challenges of a vascular and surgical inpatient programs. The competitive candidate is an expert clinician who possesses an excellent and extensive clinical expertise in peripheral vascular, podiatry, ENT, Plastics, Oral Max surgical and medical nursing. This position requires an innovative, flexible, independent, self-motivated and creative embracer of change who is capable of collaborating with clinical, managerial and education teams. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Previous Critical Care experience. Ability to critique the development of staff and provide meaningful feedback.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent health-related degree. Minimum of 3 - 5 years of recent (within the last year) intensive experience in Vascular Surgery. Recent (within the last year) clinical expertise in Cardiac and Hemodynamic monitoring. ECG and Hemodynamic Monitoring Certification. APS Certification. Previous experience in teaching or leadership role. Demonstrated strong expertise with connect care and Reporting and Learning System. Computer knowledge and proficiency related to databases, word processing, spreadsheets, flowcharting, graphics, such as MS Office Suite (inclusive of Excel/Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in the application of adult teaching-learning principles. Use of nursing process–assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation. Use of Collaborative Care (CoACT) Model. Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals. Leadership skills. Ability to promote the change process. Application and promotion of problem-solving and creative thinking. Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of setting.
