Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to support Ambulatory Care programs within the Edmonton Zone. The CNE is a clinical practice leader responsible for advancing excellence in patient care through education, professional development, quality improvement, and evidence-informed practice. Working collaboratively with managers, physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and operational leaders, the CNE assesses learning needs, develops educational strategies, and supports staff competency across a variety of ambulatory care settings. In this role, you will design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate education initiatives that support onboarding, orientation, continuing education, professional practice development, and organizational change. You will facilitate learning through classroom, virtual, simulation, and workplace-based modalities while ensuring education aligns with current standards, policies, best practices, and organizational priorities. As a subject matter expert, you will provide consultation, coaching, and mentorship to staff and leaders regarding clinical practice, patient safety, competency development, and quality improvement initiatives. The CNE plays a key role in supporting implementation of new workflows, technologies, and practice changes while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence patient outcomes, enhance staff development, and contribute to advancing ambulatory care services across the Edmonton Zone.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years of recent nursing experience in an acute med/surg setting or specialty clinical setting. Previous Clinical Nurse Educator, instructor, clinical leadership, quality improvement, or equivalent experience required. Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles, curriculum development, staff orientation, competency assessment, educational program planning, delivery, and evaluation. Experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting professional practice development of nursing staff. Strong knowledge of evidence-informed practice, quality improvement methodologies, change management principles, and patient safety initiatives. Experience developing educational resources, learning tools, standard work, clinical procedures, and documentation. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and experience utilizing healthcare information systems including Word, Excel, Teams, Share Point. Minimum three years experience and proficiency/competency with Connect Care including Ambulatory applications and roles. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, facilitate group learning, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong critical thinking, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Knowledge of healthcare legislation, professional standards, and organizational policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPR Instructor certification preferred. Experience developing adult education resources, simulations, competency programs, standard operating procedures, and clinical workflows. Demonstrated experience leading practice change, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of technology or workflow enhancements within ambulatory care settings. Understanding of Home Nutrition including enteral and parenteral nutrition, chest medicine and role of NSWOC nurse in clinical settings.
