The Wainwright Health Centre contains a 20 bed acute care medical/surgical unit, 2 bed obstetrical suite, 24/7 Emergency Department, in addition to an OR, day surgery unit and cardiac wellness services. As the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Wainwright Health Centre, you will have the opportunity to rotate within the areas of acute care, emergency, and labour/delivery, allowing you to work to full scope of practice and develop your nursing skills in multiple areas, while working within a multidisciplinary team to provide family focused nursing care.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment. This role may require working different shift schedules, including rotating shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum one (1) year Acute, Obstetrics and Emergency nursing experience is preferred. Experience with Connect Care, and general computer skills. CTAS and ACLS. Other courses and training applicable to the rural acute and emergency setting an asset.
