This role provides leadership for two dynamic ambulatory programs serving patients across Central Alberta. The Manager oversees day-to-day operations, staffing, resource management, patient flow, quality improvement, and program development while supporting safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. Working closely with physicians, nursing and allied health professionals, and operational leaders, the Manager will foster a positive workplace culture and support teams through ongoing growth and change. Description:
The Manager is accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the Outpatient Department and Bariatric Specialty Clinic, including the management of human, financial, and material resources. The Manager provides leadership for day-to-day clinical and operational activities and supports the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. The Manager is accountable for unit-level operational and clinical decision-making and contributes to strategic and operational priorities across Surgical Services. Working collaboratively with the Patient Care Manager, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and operational partners, the Manager supports patient flow, access, resource utilization, quality improvement, patient safety, and program development. The Manager oversees workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance development, employee relations, and staff engagement while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and service excellence. As the Manager of the Outpatient Department and Bariatric Specialty Clinic, you will provide operational and clinical leadership for two specialized ambulatory programs within Surgical Services. You will oversee day-to-day operations, staffing and workforce planning, resource utilization, patient flow, quality improvement, patient safety, and program development. Working collaboratively with physicians, nursing and allied health professionals, and operational partners, you will support coordinated, high-quality care and continued service improvement. As a visible and approachable leader, you will support staff development and engagement, lead teams through change, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and patient- and family-centered care.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health-related field. Current professional registration in good standing. Minimum five years of recent healthcare experience with three years of progressive leadership experience. Demonstrated experience managing human, financial, and material resources within a complex healthcare environment. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and lead teams through change. Commitment to patient- and family-centered care, quality improvement, patient safety, and service excellence.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare teams and managing competing operational priorities. Demonstrated experience with staffing, performance management, staff development, and collective agreements within a unionized environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and operational partners. Experience supporting patient flow, access, resource utilization, quality improvement, and change initiatives. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop staff while fostering accountability, engagement, and a positive workplace culture. Self-directed, adaptable, and able to make effective decisions in a dynamic environment. Connect Care experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership experience within surgical services, ambulatory care, specialty clinics, or chronic disease management. Experience with bariatric or obesity care is an asset. Quality improvement certification (AHS AIW, Green Belt, or equivalent) and/or Change Management certification (Prosci or equivalent). Knowledge of ambulatory clinic workflows, referral processes, procedural services, and scheduling systems.
