Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for a Manager - Acute Care/Emergency at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre to assist in the management of its Acute Care and Emergency department. In this key leadership role you will be responsible for direction, team leadership, and organization over the activities of the 31 bed Acute Care and 24 hour Emergency Department, while supporting the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services. You will be accountable for making unit-level decisions and have direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of patient & family centered care. As an effective communicator with strong organization skills you have a demonstrated ability to inspire and build confidence in others, and relationship building abilities that include facilitation, collaboration, and consultation skills, utilizing persuasion and influence to lead the Rocky Mountain House Acute Care department. Rocky Mountain House is located one hour from Red Deer in west-central Alberta, on the North Saskatchewan River and 215 km from both Calgary and Edmonton. This multicultural community has that small town feel with endless recreational activities in the west country.

The Manager – Acute Care/Emergency is responsible for key decisions and maintaining standards; ensuring a focus on consistency in the delivery of patient & family centered care and commitment to providing quality services. Key responsibilities include; recruiting and selecting staff to meet operational needs, managing staff performance, managing a unionized sector, promoting team development, teamwork, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals, foster an environment of quality improvement and a culture of safety for staff and patients. The Manager – Acute Care/Emergency will manage the operating budget, plan and determine the allocation of resources, authorize and control expenditures, and will be accountable for managing resources within the assigned portfolio. The Manager – Acute Care/Emergency will participate in quality management initiatives; facilitate change management; coordinate staffing and clinical work as identified by the Site Leader and Rural Lead.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Nursing degree and/or relevant experience in rural health care. Minimum three (3) years, within the last five (5) years, nursing experience. Minimum one (1) years' experience working in a leadership capacity (i.e. Charge Nurse, Team Lead, Clinical Educator, or Assistant Head Nurse). Active practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or other professional licensing body. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
