Description:
The Medical Device Reprocessing Area (MDRA) Educator provides leadership in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of educational and training initiatives for staff involved in MDR across the Northeast and Northwest Corridors. This role is instrumental in supporting safe, high-quality reprocessing practices through education, competency development, quality improvement, and practice standardization. As a key resource for Surgical Processors and MDR Working Leads, the Educator is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating orientation programs, mandatory and continuing education, competency assessments, and professional development initiatives in accordance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards and organizational requirements. The Reprocessing Educator partners with operational leaders, site management, post-secondary institutions, and provincial stakeholders to enhance staff development, support student training, identify barriers to learning, and advance consistent MDR practices across decentralized and acute care settings.

Required Qualifications:
Certification in Medical Device Reprocessing (recognized Canadian certification preferred). Recent experience in Medical Device Reprocessing within an acute care environment. Demonstrated expertise in cleaning, disinfection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of reusable medical devices. Previous experience in education, staff development, mentoring, or leadership is preferred. Strong understanding of CSA standards, infection prevention and control principles, and MDR best practices. Experience developing and delivering educational programs and competency-based learning. Excellent communication, facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work collaboratively with operational leaders, frontline staff, educators, and external partners. Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and professional practice excellence. Ability to travel throughout the Northeast and Northwest Corridors as required. Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing competing priorities across a large geographic region. Proficiency with learning management systems, competency tracking tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Three to five years of recent Medical Device Reprocessing experience in an acute care setting. Experience working in rural, remote, or decentralized healthcare settings. Current membership in relevant professional associations related to Medical Device Reprocessing, Sterile Processing, or Healthcare Education. Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards, Accreditation Canada requirements, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) principles, and MDR best practices. Familiarity with surgical services workflows, operating room processes, and instrumentation management. Previous experience in an educator, preceptor, supervisor, team lead, or leadership role within Medical Device Reprocessing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience developing and delivering adult education programs, staff training, and competency assessments. Experience supporting quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, accreditation readiness, and process improvement initiatives. Experience implementing standardized practices across multiple sites or healthcare organizations.
