The Team Leader provides clinical leadership and operational coordination for an assigned team that may include staff from one or multiple disciplines. This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the team and contributing to program planning and evaluation, resource allocation, staff recruitment and selection, orientation, coaching and mentoring, professional development, supervision of student placements, and education. The successful candidate will ensure that clinical practice within the musculoskeletal inpatient team is evidence-informed, aligned with professional standards, and focused on delivering exceptional patient care. The current clinical assignment is within the musculoskeletal inpatient team; however, program assignments may change based on operational requirements. Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a tertiary rehabilitation setting working with adult patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including orthopedic and/or amputee populations and at least 6 months experience as a Team Leader. Effective teaching, written communication, verbal communication, and computer skills are required. Strong and effective leadership skills, organizational skills are required as well as conflict resolution/negotiation skills. The successful incumbent must be capable of performing lifts, transfers, repositioning, and other physically demanding activities associated with this role. Must maintain active registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta throughout the duration of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional experience in a tertiary rehabilitation setting working with adults with musculoskeletal conditions, including orthopedic and amputee populations, is preferred. Experience with Connect Care/EMR is considered an asset.
