Alberta Paramedic Health (APH) offers a career that supports your lifestyle while providing meaningful opportunities for professional growth and development. By joining APH, you become part of a high-performing and supportive team committed to exceptional patient care. In addition to competitive compensation and flexible benefits, a Remote Retention Allowance is currently in place to a maximum of $3,000 annually. This non-pensionable allowance is paid on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the basic rate of pay. Valleyview is located approximately 110 km east of Grande Prairie and 350 km northwest of Edmonton. Known as the Gateway to the Peace, it offers convenient highway access, local amenities, and proximity to both forests and farmland. To ensure your qualifications are fully recognized during the screening process, please submit a chronological resume and cover letter in PDF format, along with copies of any job-related credentials. Candidate information may be shared with APH Operations hiring teams within the province for recruitment purposes only. This position is eligible for RCIF funding and may qualify for a recruitment incentive of up to $13,000 over 12 months. For full details, visit rcif-hsaa.ca.

Description:

As a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) with ALTA Paramedic Health (APH), you will assess emergency scenes and patients and may transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation. You may treat patients by administering minor medications, using basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and providing semi-automated defibrillation. You may also lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other transport vehicles, including non-emergent transport (NET) units, are properly stocked and equipped in accordance with APH standards. The working environment for a PCP is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, moving traffic, and industrial and agricultural equipment. You will be required to travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations (e.g. backcountry), with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids. The PCP role is physically demanding. You must be able to endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105 lbs, while transporting and transferring patients, supplies, and equipment. You must also be able to endure frequent, simultaneous kneeling and trunk flexion for extended periods. Additionally, you must stand and sit for extended periods, as well as bend, twist, side-carry up to 20 lbs in each hand and assume awkward positions.
