Your Opportunity:
Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity as a Perioperative Registered Nurse. Wetaskiwin is a busy OR with three theaters performing a variety of general, gynecological, and ophthalmologic surgeries in addition to the well-established endoscopy program. We are excited to be working on expanding our programs in alignment with the Alberta Surgical Initiative and are looking for a dedicated Perioperative Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Perioperative Nurse, you will report to the Operating Room department Manager and will be responsible for providing perioperative patient care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA), Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA). You will demonstrate full-scope competence in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care in both the scrub and circulating roles as an integral part of the surgical team. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means “the hills where peace was made”. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There’s always something to do in Wetaskiwin!
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion and certification from an approved Perioperative Nursing program or 2 years recent operating room experience in both scrub and circulating role within the last 5 years. You may be eligible for the Rural Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program if you meet other eligibility requirements.

Current Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Perioperative Nursing Certification.
