Unit 49, Medical/ Cardiology unit, provides inpatient care for Cardiology and Acute Medical patients. This unit fosters a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers. Unit 49 at the Peter Lougheed Center maintains an excellent relationship with the CCU unit 48. There may be instances where the successful applicant is asked to provide assistance on Unit 48.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years in inpatient acute medical nursing required. 2 years experience in cardiovascular nursing required. Cardiac Dysrhythmia interpretation required. Ability to work within the full scope of an RN. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a stressful multidisciplinary environment. Ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision making, nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the values of AHS. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to assist with communication/ implementation of initiatives. Experience with Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM), Clinibase, Netcare, and Medivision) preferred. Actively integrates patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practice. Basic knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office). Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting.
