Your Opportunity:

George McDougall – Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre is seeking a confident and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. You will practice to your full scope, providing safe, competent, patient and family centered care in a 12 bed acute unit and 24 hour emergency department. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will help develop and implement care plans while providing education and emotional support to patients, residents, and families. At times, you may be the only RN on duty and the most responsible health practitioner on site, requiring strong clinical judgment, independence, and leadership. The role also includes supervising and mentoring staff and providing constructive feedback. Resting amid dense forest along the shore of its namesake lake, Smoky Lake offers an exceptional quality of life rooted in rich Alberta history and small town charm. Established during Alberta’s early settlement era, the community reflects deep agricultural and cultural heritage, with modern amenities thoughtfully interwoven among preserved historic sites. The surrounding landscape supports a thriving farmers’ market and access to the popular Iron Horse Trail, offering year round outdoor recreation alongside a range of local sports and social activities. Located on Treaty 6 territory and the traditional lands of the Métis, this heritage is celebrated nearby at Métis Crossing through unique cultural experiences. With affordable housing, a welcoming and close knit community, and excellent recreation facilities, Smoky Lake is an ideal place to build a career, raise a family, and become part of a community that values both its history and its future. This is you chance to make a difference - because for you, nursing is more than a job, it’s a calling. This location also qualifies for Student Loan Forgiveness.

You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour.
