Unit 23 at the Leduc Community Hospital, located on Treaty 6 Territory, provides endoscopy and surgical services across six specialties: General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Plastics, and Vascular. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive nursing care. Unit 23 includes Day Surgery, the Pre-Admission Clinic, and Endoscopy. In this role, you will provide a wide range of nursing services that promote the safety, comfort, and well‑being of patients and families. Using critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and effective decision‑making skills, the RN applies the full nursing process and collaborates with the interdisciplinary health‑care team to ensure consistent, high‑quality care. The RN observes, monitors, documents, and communicates changes in patient condition while providing relevant teaching and support to patients and families. RNs on Unit 23 may also assume the role of Charge Nurse, responsible for coordinating patient flow, supporting team members, and ensuring effective communication across all areas of the unit. This requires strong organizational and prioritization skills, as well as the ability to lead within a collaborative care environment.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current adult day surgery, preadmission clinic and endoscopy nursing experience within the last 2 years is required. Preferred Charge nurse experience. Demonstrated excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational, and patient care skills. Proficient in medication administration calculations. Ability to deal with stressful situations, prioritize complex patient care needs and demands, prioritize workload assignments, and cope with frequent interruptions. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a team and demonstrate collaborative communication skills. Ability to lift, must not have current activity restrictions, such as pulling, pushing, reaching, and bending.
