Your Opportunity:
Unit 32 is an acute medical unit where holistic palliative care, patient/family support and education, bereavement counseling, and Oncology related Nursing care feature predominately. A candidate who can work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team to provide family focused Nursing care is required. This environment is suitable for candidates who have leadership experience and have current experience with Palliative care and Oncology.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Basic computer skills. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Must be able to work in a collaborative care setting. Current Oncology/Palliative care experience required as well as current acute care experience. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities. Ability to work shift work. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree is preferred. Certification in Oncology and/or Palliative care is preferred.
