Your Opportunity:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) provides specialized care to patients with acute and complex cardiovascular conditions. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment. This role requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions. The RN will care for patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring and therapies and will perform as a member of the hospital Code Blue Team, responding to medical emergencies throughout the facility. Successful candidates will complete the Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA) and participate in ongoing learning to develop the knowledge and skills required to provide safe, high-quality care. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in a specialized cardiac intensive care setting while contributing to positive patient outcomes.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum one-two years (full-time equivalent) experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute medical and/or surgical unit within the last three years. Demonstrated motivation and commitment to successfully complete the OPACCA. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are required. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities. Basic computer proficiency is required. Must be physically able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and sustained postures, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects greater than 30 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent critical care and/or cardiology experience. Knowledge and skill in advanced dysrhythmia recognition and 12-lead ECG interpretation. Certification and experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Pulmonary Artery Catheter’s, Impella’s, and Charge Nurse training are assets. Preference will be given to current FMC CICU RNs with a minimum of one year of critical care experience.
