Your Opportunity:
Working under the general direction of the Unit Manager for Cardiac Cath Lab, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory participates as a team member of the multidisciplinary procedural team. The RN is required to work collaboratively and cohesively within the multidisciplinary environment. Cardiac Cath lab primary responsibilities include providing patient care and assisting the physician during catheterization procedures, circulation duties during procedures, and hemodynamic monitoring during procedures. Cath lab procedures include coronary angiograms, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), structural heart procedures, electrophysiology studies, and pacemaker implants. This position needs to be flexible with supporting short stay cardiology to help provide optimal coverage. Provides patient teaching and offers reassurance throughout all phases of the procedure (pre, peri, and post). Continuously monitors, reports and records cardiovascular and hemodynamic status. Medication administration. Must have working knowledge of vasoactive drips and their mechanisms. Understanding of ECG rhythm analysis and cardiovascular hemodynamics required. Experience caring for unstable and critically ill patients is required. Experience working in a critical care unit is mandatory. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills are expected. Provides patient handover pre and post procedure. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential. Obtains and maintains hemostasis (both femoral and brachial access).

Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years recent experience (within past 5 years) working in adult Critical Care or Trauma Emergency. Critical care course or OPACA. Current ACLS certification. Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics and ECG monitoring. This RN position includes the following physical requirements: being on one's feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing and wearing lead), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Catheterization Lab experience >1 year highly preferred. Completed FMC Cath Lab orientation preferred. CICU or CVICU experience preferred. Hemodynamic training preferred. Arterial/Femoral sheath removal and management experience.
