Your Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity to work at the Stollery Children's Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The successful candidate will be well versed in team dynamics, multidisciplinary team rounding, collaboration, teaching, and supporting families throughout their infant's hospitalization and transition to home. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years in an acute care pediatric, maternal-child, or tertiary healthcare setting supporting families experiencing complex medical conditions, prolonged hospitalizations, and crisis interventions. You will be a skilled communicator with well-established community resource supports and networks including early intervention services, community agencies, developmental programs, and government-funded supports. The successful candidate will advocate for knowledge translation and accessing all available services. Your strengths-based approach and diversity and inclusion practices will assist families in achieving the best outcomes for their infants and ongoing health success. You will have a proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within established Alberta Health Services policies and procedures. You will demonstrate the values and mission of AHS and have proven engagement strategies to meet the needs of infants and families. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for patients and families and will be compassionate and caring with a focus on patient and family-centered care. Strong communication, resource management, prioritization, and teamwork skills are crucial. When required, the successful candidate will provide support to other areas within the Pediatric Social Work Program.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP/CPR) certification required. Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric experience. Experience in grief and loss counselling. Strong crisis intervention and crisis management skills. Adjustment disorder counselling experience. Indigenous cultural awareness training. Strong advocacy, collaboration, communication, and community resource navigation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approaches. NICU experience and/or experience working with infants and families facing complex medical needs, critical illness, or prolonged hospitalization. Proficiency with Connect Care. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint).
