Your Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre as a Speech Language Pathologist responsible for the management of adult outpatients referred with swallowing and communication difficulties. Under the supervision of the Allied Health Area Manager and the SLP Clinical Lead, you will work closely with the SLP Outpatient Team and interdisciplinary colleagues on the Stroke Outreach team to provide assessment and treatment to a varied neurological caseload. This position offers unique opportunities to develop specialized skills through involvement in videofluoroscopic swallow studies and participation in a well-established Voice Clinic alongside an experienced ENT physician. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are paramount in this role. Sound clinical judgement and critical thinking combined with the ability to create innovative solutions for complex challenges are also essential in this position.
Description:
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in assessment and treatment of adult clients experiencing swallowing and communication difficulties. Experience conducting videofluoroscopy swallow studies is an asset.
