The Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is a metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds, located next to the scenic Glenmore Reservoir in Southwest Calgary. RGH AH department works collaboratively with all clinical teams: Emergency, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units, Transition Units, Orthopaedics & the Acute Geriatric Units. This position may require repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and equipment. Weekend coverage is expected for all positions on the Therapy Assistant team at Rockyview General Hospital.
Description:
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current BLS Provider - Heart and Stroke certificate. 6 months+ experience as a Therapy Assistant in an urban adult acute care medical setting within the past year.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ yrs’ exp in an urban adult acute care setting w/in last 3 years. Experience with the following TA acute care skill sets: therapeutic sewing, exp in Rec Therapy, exp leading patient groups. Exp in Orthopaedics, Specialized Geriatric Units, Critical Care, General Medicine & General Surgery. Exp with managing rehabilitation equipment. Exp working with geriatric populations in an acute care setting. Exp at RGH. Experience with Arthroplasty D/C Program. Experience with MBS/FEES.

Requirements
Applicants must have a diploma from an accredited post-secondary Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training, a current Heart and Stroke BLS Provider certificate, and at least six months of recent experience as a Therapy Assistant in an urban adult acute-care medical setting. Preferred experience includes acute-care rehabilitation across specialties, geriatric care, rehabilitation equipment, patient groups, and specific programs such as Arthroplasty Discharge and MBS/FEES.
