Original job description

Your Opportunity:

Brooks has an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to provide support in a transdisciplinary model (OT and PT) within the acute care setting at Brooks Health Centre. This position also supports OT at Sunrise Gardens supportive living facility. The successful candidate will have superior organizational skills, knowledge of rehab equipment, AADL processes and patient centered care principles. Therapist Assistants are integral to the Allied Health Team and are required to have superior communication (written and verbal) skills so that they can properly relay information between therapists, nursing staff, patients/families and other stakeholders in care. You will be a partner in delivering quality programs aimed at enhancing optimal client function. You will collaborate, cooperate and develop effective partnerships with other providers with a focus on prevention, protection, treatment and promotion across the continuum of services. Brooks is a city in southeast Alberta, Canada, surrounded by the County of Newell. It is one of fastest growing communities in Alberta with a multi-cultural flavor unique to other municipalities. Residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including camping, boating, fishing, sailing, kayaking, water skiing (water sports) ice fishing and skating in winter, just to name a few.

Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Classification: Therapy Assistant Union: HSAA Facility PROF/TECH Unit and Program: SE Corridor, Occupational Therapy Primary Location: Brooks Health Centre Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 13-OCT-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Date Available: 26-OCT-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 2 Shifts per cycle: 10 Shift Pattern: Days Days Off: Saturday/Sunday Minimum Salary: $27.44 Maximum Salary: $34.39 Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License, Vehicle Provided

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Valid Heart & Stroke, Basic Life Support certification. Valid First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care/EPIC documentation in both the acute and community streams. Understanding of AADL program would also be considered an asset.
