Hematology is a very busy, high acuity unit that provides care to adult patients with complex acute and oncology related medical conditions requiring comprehensive assessment, clinical expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent healthcare administrative or clerical experience in hematology/oncology. Strong computer proficiency including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. A current resume must be attached to your application. Applications submitted without a resume will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years recent acute care Unit Clerk experience, preference given to applicants with Oncology/Hematology experience. Medical terminology training. Connect Care experience preferred. Experience supporting admissions, transfers, discharges and patient flow preferred. Assisted with patient flow coordination while working independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment able to work independently to support and improve patient flow throughout clinical operations.
