Your Opportunity:

Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Clerk Float who will assist each of the inpatient units as required. This position will require the unit clerk to be flexible and shift to another unit when deemed necessary to support acute care operations. The Unit Clerk is responsible for managing the flow of information and providing clerical support to the care team on the units of hospital. You will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide support to the physicians, nursing staff, and the patients we serve. The unit clerk will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. The unit clerk is primarily responsible for: Scheduling appointments, tests, therapies, and consultations into electronic health records and other appropriate databases. Reception: serving as the first point of contact in matters concerning the efficient administration of the Unit. Communication of information: playing a key role in helping to foster a team environment on the Unit by facilitating communication between care teams, departments, patients and families, and by maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Clerical support duties for the Unit/Clinic/Care Centre. Maintains patient electronic charts. Other responsibilities: completing projects under tight timelines and with frequent interruptions The Unit Clerk helps to support the care team to focus on direct patient care. This position is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the Unit. The unit clerk will support the Unit Manager and Staffing Office as needed, as well as support other duties as required.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience as a unit clerk in an acute care setting. MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Time Keeping Course, Connect Care Training and other Training as determined by the Manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

Administrative Assistant Certificate or Unit Clerk Course. Medical Terminology.
