Position: Engineering Services Manager- On Call
Reporting To: Director
Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada
POSITION SUMMARY
Albion Marine Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Services Manager to support the Company's commercial, business development, engineering, and project activities. This multifaceted role combines commercial proposal writing, technical documentation, content creation, business development support, and marketing material development.
The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, the ability to understand and translate complex marine, engineering, and operational information into clear content, a strong sense of audience and brand voice, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, commercial, sales, project, and management teams. The role will also support the Company's use of Generative AI and automation to improve proposal development, content creation, research, document review, and repetitive processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop, write, edit, and manage technical and commercial proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, tenders, client presentations, reports, manuals, procedures, and other business documentation.
· Collaborate with engineering, project, sales, and management teams to gather, organize, and present technical and commercial information in a clear, accurate, and client-focused manner.
· Translate complex marine, engineering, operational, and project-related information into concise, professional content for internal and external stakeholders.
· Support business development initiatives through market research, customer engagement, strategic planning, proposal development, and preparation of customized client-facing materials.
· Maintain and control technical documentation, templates, content libraries, project records, and proposal resources to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality.
· Coordinate communication and information flow between engineering teams, clients, suppliers, project personnel, regulatory authorities, and management.
· Support marine and offshore projects through documentation related to inspections, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and other engineering activities.
· Utilize Generative AI and automation tools to improve proposal development, technical writing, research, document review, workflow efficiency, and productivity while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
· Assist with management reporting, budget-related activities, commercial tracking, and other administrative or strategic initiatives as required.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Business, or a related field.
· 3+ years of proven experience in shipboard operations, ship management, ship repairs or similar.
· Strong understanding of technical concepts and ability to work effectively with engineering teams.
· Experience with RFP, RFQ, or public procurement processes.
· Experience preparing commercial proposals and client-facing documentation.
· Experience in the maritime, marine engineering, offshore, industrial, or engineering sector is a strong asset.
· Experience working with technical documentation, engineering reports, project documentation, or operational procedures is an asset.
· Experience or demonstrated curiosity with Generative AI and its use cases for automating time-consuming tasks.
· Experience using AI to enhance and enrich technical proposals and content writing.
· Accreditation or certification in strategic business development or management is an asset.
· Commercial, sales, management, or key account experience is an asset.
