Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Institutional Analytics and Planning, the IR Advanced Data Analyst develops predictive models, forecasts and advanced analytical tools to support strategic, academic and financial decision-making. The position integrates enrolment, student, program, financial, demographic, labour-market and other internal and external data to identify emerging patterns, estimate future outcomes and assess the factors influencing institutional performance.
The incumbent develops and evaluates models related to enrolment demand, applicant conversion, student retention and completion, program performance, revenue and financial sustainability. The position conducts scenario and sensitivity analysis to help College leaders understand the potential effects of changes in student demand, demographics, government policy, funding, tuition, economic conditions, program mix and institutional decisions.
Working collaboratively with Institutional Research analysts, the Institutional Research BI Analyst, and other College subject-matter experts, the incumbent prepares and validates data, selects appropriate analytical methods, develops reproducible models and translates complex findings into clear planning implications. The position establishes model documentation, testing and monitoring practices and supports the responsible use of predictive analytics across the College.
The position is primarily responsible for developing forward-looking analytical methods and reusable modelling capabilities rather than recurring operational reporting. The incumbent works on complex analytical projects and provides evidence, forecasts and scenarios to support institutional planning, resource allocation and strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) year Diploma/Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Technology, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative or analytical discipline;
- Minimum five (5) years experience in:
- Advanced data analysis, statistical modelling, forecasting, predictive analytics and scenario analysis using complex data from multiple sources;
- Experience preparing, integrating and validating data; developing and evaluating reproducible analytical models; and interpreting findings to support strategic, academic, operational or financial decision-making;
- Experience using analytical programming and data tools such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI or comparable technologies is required;
- Communicating complex analytical findings, assumptions and limitations to non-technical decision-makers is also required.
