About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Design Lead specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM) to provide technical leadership in the design, development, implementation, integration, testing and management of enterprise IAM solutions.
The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of systems analysis, including system development planning and technical design across large-scale, mission-critical environments. The role provides leadership and guidance in implementing solutions using best practices while adhering to established architectural standards.
The Technical Design Lead will work closely with IAM, security, architecture and technical teams to plan, estimate, prioritize and assign work, while acting as a specialist with deep knowledge of complex IAM technologies and supporting critical enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide planning, design and deployment guidance for IAM solutions supporting mission-critical systems and technologies.
- Design, develop and implement identity and access management solutions using enterprise platforms.
- Optimize identity lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), attribute-based access control (ABAC) and other identity-based processes.
- Supervise and provide technical leadership to a team of Senior Analysts, including planning, estimating, prioritizing and assigning work to technical resources, and providing guidance on system development methods, design alternatives and technical options.
- Provide technical recommendations and make design decisions regarding tools, development standards, solution options, work priorities, risk mitigation and the long-term evolution of applications and systems.
- Advise technical staff regarding system development methods, design alternatives and technical options.
- Work closely with technical and architecture teams to conduct in-depth reviews of available functionality before customizing platforms.
- Support overall systems testing, system performance and migration of solutions into production.
- Monitor project and technical risks and support implementation of appropriate risk-mitigation strategies.
- Ensure development standards, design frameworks and security protocols are followed.
- Assess new functionality introduced through platform updates and recommend appropriate implementation approaches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues and document problems, diagnoses and resolutions.
- Analyze complex business requirements, participate in fit/gap analysis and evaluate system impacts.
- Participate in architecture design, solution validation, implementation, testing and migration.
- Work with security specialists to review and implement access controls, role and permission configurations, system maintenance and ongoing system performance.
Essential Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Identity and Access Management, security or a related area.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in solution development, platform engineering and implementation.
Technical Qualifications
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of IAM concepts, including access certification, RBAC, ABAC, identity lifecycle management and policy enforcement.
- In-depth knowledge of IAM protocols and standards, including SAML, OAuth, OIDC, LDAP and SCIM.
- Experience designing end-to-end business system solutions within complex application and technology environments.
- Experience integrating IAM solutions with cloud and hybrid environments.
- Experience working with large-scale, mission-critical systems, including Saviynt or similar enterprise IAM platforms.
- Proficiency with IAM, SSO, MFA, PAM and other access-management solutions.
- Experience with APIs, integrations, middleware and automation.
- Advanced knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Node.js and PowerShell.
- Proficiency in database management, including SQL and Oracle.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies.
- Advanced analytical and troubleshooting capabilities for complex technical environments.

Working Environment & Conditions
- The role requires sitting for extended periods, generally with freedom to move about.
- There may be rare requirements to lift or manipulate equipment and to bend, stoop or work in awkward positions during installation or repair activities.
- The position primarily operates in an office environment, with occasional work in server-room environments and occasional travel between buildings.
- Work requires frequent concentration and attention to complex information for extended periods, as well as participation in frequent meetings.
- The role operates in an environment with deadlines, competing priorities and interactions with a variety of stakeholders.
