Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated senior application developer to join a dynamic Data & Digital team within an Engineering, Innovation & Architecture organization. This is a hybrid role based in Toronto or Waterloo, offering a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension or conversion. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications, cloud-native solutions, and modern data platforms. Working alongside junior and senior developers, a Scrum Master, and technical leadership, this individual will contribute to application modernization, API development, DevOps automation, and the integration of emerging AI capabilities into business workflows. This is a backfill for a senior engineering resource who supported critical data platform and application development initiatives, making it an impactful opportunity for a technically deep and collaborative professional.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud-native solutions in production environments
• Participate in application modernization efforts, code reviews, testing cycles, and ongoing production support activities
• Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues and implement sustainable, scalable solutions
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and deployment automation frameworks
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, monitoring, and operational processes
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency through DevOps practices and automation
• Support and enhance modern data and analytics platforms including Snowflake and related technologies
• Collaborate with data engineers to support data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and consumption patterns
• Assist with data platform administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Implement security, access management, monitoring, and governance controls across applications and platforms
• Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, vulnerability remediation, and operational support activities
• Ensure all solutions comply with enterprise architecture, security, and governance standards
• Partner with architects, product owners, technical program managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Contribute to engineering best practices, reusable solution frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with enterprise technology teams to develop scalable and shared platform capabilities

Skills

• Proficiency in C#, .NET / .NET Core, Python, and SQL for enterprise application development
• Hands-on experience with Blazor or similar modern web application frameworks
• Strong experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise applications and APIs in production environments
• Deep understanding of software engineering principles, application architecture, and cloud-native development patterns
• Proven ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, IAM, and CloudWatch
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployments
• Familiarity with Snowflake or comparable cloud-based data and analytics platforms
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups
• Ability to gather requirements, ask thoughtful discovery questions, and propose well-reasoned solutions
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive, curious, and self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
• Comfortable sharing technical opinions, providing recommendations, and driving engineering discussions
• Experience with AI engineering, AI application development, or intelligent automation is a strong asset
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational database technologies is an asset
• Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or modern analytics technologies is an asset
• Exposure to DevSecOps tools such as Snyk or Checkmarx is an asset
• Experience mentoring developers or providing technical leadership within agile teams is an asset

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in software development, cloud engineering, DevOps, or data engineering
• 3+ years of hands-on development experience with C#, .NET / .NET Core, Python, SQL, and Blazor or similar frameworks
• Proven track record supporting and troubleshooting applications in production environments
• Experience working within financial services, insurance, asset management, or other regulated industries is an asset
• Experience supporting self-service analytics, data products, or data marketplace initiatives is an asset

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred
• Equivalent combinations of engineering-focused training and relevant industry experience will be considered
• Tier 2 background check required prior to being granted privileged system access
