Purpose
Support and evolve Allied’s enterprise data environment to enable secure, scalable, and insight-driven business operations. As a Data Solutions Architect, Technology, you will provide technical leadership across Allied’s data platform, including enterprise data architecture, integration, data modelling, governance, reporting modernization, and AI enablement. You will help ensure Allied’s data solutions are reliable, well-governed, and aligned with business needs across the organization.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Strategy and Transformation, you will collaborate with Technology, Finance, Leasing, Portfolio Operations, Property Management, and other business stakeholders to evolve Allied’s Microsoft-centric data ecosystem, including Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, Yardi integrations, and related tools. Through strong technical ownership, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and continuous improvement, you will help scale Allied’s data foundation, support the transition to modern reporting and analytics, and enable informed decision-making across the business.
Responsibilities
Area of Work 1: Enterprise Data Architecture and Platform Evolution
- Continue to evolve and scale Allied's enterprise data platform built on Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and Power BI, ensuring it remains secure, performant, and aligned with business needs.
- Maintain and advance the target-state architecture, standards, and technology stack; update roadmaps and reference designs as the platform matures.
- Optimize existing data pipelines and ingestion processes from Yardi, Excel, and other operational sources into Fabric.
- Evaluate and implement modern data tools that fit our Microsoft-centric ecosystem while remaining open to complementary solutions (e.g., AWS services, Amazon QuickSight) when they offer faster deployment or better fit.
- Define and enforce standards for documentation, testing, monitoring, and ongoing platform evolution.
Area of Work 2: Data Integration and Engineering
- Own and improve data integration across Yardi ERP, Microsoft services (Power Platform, Fabric, SharePoint, Power BI), smart building systems (BAS, access control, IoT), and third-party applications.
- Build on the streamlined Yardi data extraction and SQL query processes already in place; continue to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Develop and maintain Power Apps for data ingestion and Power BI dashboards for data delivery, building on existing solutions.
- Lead the transition of Yardi reports into Power BI, working closely with end users to manage change and ensure adoption. This requires someone who can introduce new reporting approaches in a way that teams can absorb.
- Work with stakeholders to prioritize new ingestion pipelines, data products, and real-time analytics capabilities.
- Champion data quality, security, lineage, cataloging, and observability; optimize performance and cost of cloud services.
Area of Work 3: Data Governance and Data Modelling
- Work closely with the Data Governance Committee and Data Stewards to advance Allied's Data Governance framework, including data ownership, access controls, sensitivity classification, and retention requirements.
- Continue building and refining the enterprise Data Model so the organization has a clear understanding of what data exists, who owns it, and how it should be managed.
- Champion data quality and ensure governance practices are practical, sustainable, and adopted across the business.
- Support data retention and lifecycle management initiatives.
Area of Work 4: AI Enablement and Innovation
- Connect Allied's data solutions with AI investments, ensuring all AI solutions are built on top of reliable, governed data.
- Advance the integration of Data Agents with Microsoft Copilot Studio Agents and other AI tools.
- Collaborate across departments (Finance, Leasing, Portfolio Operations, and beyond) to unlock data-driven insights and faster decision-making.
- Drive innovation by proposing new data products, real-time analytics, self-service BI experiences, and creative approaches to solving business problems.
- Test and evaluate emerging platforms and tools (e.g., Amazon QuickSight, new Fabric capabilities) for faster or more effective solution delivery.

Qualifications
Who You Are
- A builder who can pick up and scale: You are comfortable inheriting an existing platform and making it better. You do not need to start from zero to be effective.
- An integration expert: You know how to wrangle complex source systems (ERP, IoT, APIs) into cohesive and accessible data ecosystems.
- A Microsoft power user: You are fluent in the Microsoft data stack (Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, Azure data services) and can work with complementary tools when needed.
- AI-savvy: You understand how AI depends on reliable data and can connect data platforms with AI tools like Microsoft Copilot Studio and Data Agents.
- A change agent: You can introduce new ways of working (like transitioning reports from legacy systems to Power BI) in a way that people can accept and adopt.
- A communicator and collaborator: You speak both tech and business, translating needs into architecture and outcomes into value.
- A problem-solver and innovator: You come up with new ideas and have the technical depth to tackle the most complex challenges.
Must Have
- 5+ years designing, implementing, and evolving enterprise data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, large-scale pipelines) and preparing data for advanced analytics and AI workloads.
- Deep expertise with the Microsoft data and AI stack (Fabric, Power Platform, Power BI, Azure data/compute services) with ability to configure AI compute and optimize storage.
- Solid grasp of machine-learning fundamentals, large-language models (LLMs), and generative AI concepts; able to adapt to meet the requirements of Allied's use cases.
- Experience with data governance frameworks, data modelling, metadata management, and working with governance committees or data stewards.
- Advanced SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Scala).
- Proven track record integrating ERP data, ideally Yardi or similar real-estate/financial systems.
- Experience transitioning reporting from legacy systems to modern BI platforms, including managing the change with end users.
- Proven ability to lead data projects through full lifecycle within a formal PMO/SDLC framework, delivering under Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
- Strong communication skills to translate business needs into technical and AI-driven solutions.
- Ability to work independently, come up with creative solutions, and handle complex technical challenges with minimal direction.
Would Be an Asset
- Experience ingesting and modelling IoT or BAS data (HVAC, access control, sensors).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, AI Agents, or similar AI orchestration tools.
- Experience with Amazon QuickSight or other cloud-based BI/analytics platforms.
- Working knowledge of MLOps practices (versioning, CI/CD, feature stores, model monitoring).
- Real-estate or property-management industry experience.
- Experience with change management or user adoption strategies for new technology solutions.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, TOGAF, DAMA DMBOK).

$105,000 - $130,000 a year
Allied determines individual compensation by work location and other factors, including relevant experience, education and internal equity.
