Original job description

BIG ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW, SMALL ENOUGH TO KNOW YOU!

Allnorth is a multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery, and construction services company delivering innovative, practical solutions to clients across the metals and minerals, energy and renewables, fiber and chemicals, and infrastructure sectors. With offices throughout Canada and the United States, we are continuing to expand our reach and build for the future.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our triple bottom line (TBL) philosophy, we strive to create value for our people, our clients, our communities, and our business. We believe that engaged, talented, and empowered teams are essential to delivering exceptional results and building lasting client relationships. Safety is fundamental to who we are, and we are committed to fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, giving back to the communities where we live and work, and being responsible stewards of the environment.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer with a strong background in construction engineering within the infrastructure sector to join our team. Our work combines technical excellence with innovative problem-solving to deliver meaningful projects that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. In this role, you’ll collaborate with contractors, clients, and a talented team of professionals to bring a diverse range of projects from concept through to completion. You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team of engineers, EITs, designers, and project managers who value fresh ideas, open communication, and working together to achieve great results.

A Day in the Life

Lead the structural design of industrial, commercial, construction engineering, and infrastructure projects using industry-standard design software.
Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, seismic requirements, and sustainability standards.
Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring accuracy, quality, and clarity.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and integrate effective structural solutions.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure work aligns with design specifications and safety requirements.
Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions that balance safety, cost-effectiveness, functionality, and aesthetics.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting ongoing projects while identifying opportunities to develop new clients and projects for Allnorth.
Work closely with project managers, team members, contractors, and other stakeholders to establish clear project requirements, deliverables, and expectations.
Manage project deliverables to meet established schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Proactively identify and resolve technical, scope, performance, and scheduling challenges in collaboration with project managers.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to structural team members, supporting their professional development and the overall success of the team.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada
7+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering and infrastructure design, ideally within an engineering consulting environment.
Resource bridge experience is considered an asset.
Experience in finite element analysis of structures, dynamic analysis, and a solid understanding of seismic design principles.
Knowledge of and experience applying national and provincial design codes, standards, and regulations.
Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and support the professional development of team members.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects effectively.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:
