This is a practical, onsite support role requiring good customer service, attention to detail, safe working practices, and the ability to travel between multiple locations. Only County-managed devices may be connected to the County's local environment, and all work must follow approved IT security, device management, and cabling standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite deskside and field support for Windows 11 Enterprise desktops and laptops.
  • Image, configure, deploy, replace, and retrieve end-user devices in accordance with County procedures.
  • Troubleshoot common hardware, operating system, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
  • Install and configure monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, headsets, webcams, and other approved peripherals.
  • Diagnose and resolve common printer and printing issues, escalating complex faults when required.
  • Set up, test, and troubleshoot meeting-room audiovisual equipment, including displays, projectors, conferencing peripherals, and room connections.
  • Assist with iPhone and iPad setup, troubleshooting, and enrolment-related issues for devices managed through Microsoft Intune.
  • Perform basic physical network cabling and patching tasks in line with approved County cabling standards and instructions.
  • Support equipment installations and technology moves across County Hall and other County facilities within approximately 50 km of Sherwood Park.
  • Maintain accurate hardware inventory, asset tags, serial numbers, device assignments, and deployment or return records.
  • Record work performed, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the designated IT service management or asset tracking system.
  • Follow site access, change control, device handling, data protection, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ensure that only County-managed and authorised devices are connected to the County's local IT environment.
  • Escalate incidents that require specialist network, server, security, or application support.
  • Communicate clearly with end users, provide progress updates, and maintain a professional onsite service experience.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • 1–3 years of hands-on deskside, desktop, field, or end-user IT support experience.
  • Practical experience deploying or replacing computers and troubleshooting Windows desktops or laptops.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting common peripherals and printers.
  • Familiarity with basic meeting-room AV equipment and connectivity.
  • Basic understanding of network cables, patching, and physical connectivity.
  • Experience tracking IT assets, maintaining inventory records, or documenting equipment assignments.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organisation, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to multiple County facilities as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in the Edmonton / Sherwood Park area.
Technical Environment
  • End-user computing: Windows 11 Enterprise desktops and laptops
  • Mobile devices: iPhones and iPads managed through Microsoft Intune
  • Facilities: County Hall, 2001 Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park, and other County-managed buildings within approximately 50 km
  • Infrastructure: Standard 19-inch equipment racks and County-approved cabling standards
  • Security: Only authorised, County-managed devices may connect to the local environment
  • Support scope: Device deployment, peripherals, printers, meeting-room AV, basic cabling, and asset management
Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102).
  • Experience using an ITSM ticketing platform or IT asset management system.
  • Exposure to enterprise device imaging, deployment tools, and mobile device management.
