Working closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, Business Architects, Functional Analysts, Technical Analysts, Developers, Infrastructure teams, Cybersecurity teams, vendors, and project teams, the Senior Solution Architect ensures solutions align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, operational requirements, cybersecurity requirements, and long-term technology roadmaps and plans.
The role provides leadership for the design and implementation of complex business and technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration with the enterprise ecosystem. The Senior Solution Architect serves as the primary architectural authority for assigned projects and provides governance throughout the solution lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of business and technology solutions that support strategic, operational, and regulatory objectives.
- Define and maintain solution, integration, application, data, security, infrastructure, and deployment architectures.
- Develop target-state solution architectures aligned with Enterprise Architecture strategy, business transformation objectives, and technology standards.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Work closely with business stakeholders and project teams to define business, functional, technical, integration, security, and operational requirements.
- Analyze solution alternatives, products, platforms, and technologies to identify the most appropriate solutions for business and project requirements.
- Develop architecture options, recommendations, cost-benefit analyses, and decision documentation to support project governance and investment decisions.
- Define integration architecture and technical standards for interactions with enterprise systems, including Operational Technology (OT) systems and supporting applications.
- Where required, design end-to-end business processes, integrations, and data flows across integrated platforms.
- Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned projects, major enhancements, and solution modernization initiatives.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to Functional Analysts, Technical Analysts, Developers, project teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
- Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, solution assessments, and vendor evaluations.
- Review and approve solution designs, technical specifications, integration approaches, custom development activities, and deployment strategies.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture principles, cybersecurity requirements, development standards, operational support requirements, and governance processes.
- Support project teams throughout planning, design, build, testing, implementation, deployment, cutover, and transition-to-support activities.
- Define and validate non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, scalability, recoverability, monitoring, supportability, and security.
- Identify solution risks, technical debt, performance concerns, integration challenges, operational impacts, and mitigation strategies.
- Provide troubleshooting support and root-cause analysis for complex application, integration, infrastructure, and architecture issues.
- Develop and maintain architecture documentation, standards, solution roadmaps, architecture diagrams, and technical reference materials.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Software Architecture, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, systems analysis, software development, technical leadership, or enterprise technology implementation roles.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and delivering complex enterprise solutions within integrated business environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise application architectures and integrated technology solutions.
- Strong understanding of Solution Architecture, Application Architecture, Integration Architecture, Data Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, Security Architecture, and Cybersecurity Principles.
- Experience supporting multiple integrated enterprise platforms and large-scale implementation projects.
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership, facilitation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting utility, energy, transmission, distribution, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated industries is strongly considered, particularly the ability to align architectural design with prescribed standards and regulations and ensure designs are suitable for high-reliability critical infrastructure.
