Overview
This role requires strict adherence to the project strategy, company policies, and standards, including Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), railway safety regulations, local legislation, and professional standards, while meeting project Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
The Test & Commissioning Tester is responsible for the execution and supervision of testing and commissioning activities for the OnCorr project within the Metrolinx operating area.
As a safety-critical position, the Test & Commissioning Tester plays a vital role in validating the signalling system and ensuring compliance with legal requirements, as well as Metrolinx and AREMA standards. The Test & Commissioning Tester reports to the Project Commissioning Manager to define, plan, and allocate the testing scope across the various stages of the project.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute testing activities
- in support to one or several Projects on railway signalling systems under the direction of his / her hierarchy
- according to the testing procedure / documentation and following Project Commissioning Manager and / or Tester in Charge instructions
- Ensure defects identification and correction (trouble shooting)
- In the event of a non-conformity observed during the commissioning phase, make a return experience (REX) towards the project, and ensure that all design related issues are correctly reported in the adequate tools, including the defect description and associated test context
- Ensure follow-up of detected issues and deliver the commissioning reports.
- Check that the test tools are in perfect working order and calibrated.
- Support V&V team and perform test in lab as per request under the responsibility of the V&V Manager
- Deliver the committed performance in terms of Quality, Costs and Deadlines and in compliance with Alstom policies, local standards and regulations in particular EHS and Railway Safety.
- Develop T&C procedures based on defined specifications and requirements in area of specialization to meet contractual requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to individuals or teams for tools, procedure and in resolving problems
- Report on a regular basis to the Project Commissioning Manager on progress and issues
- Report on the anomalies arising during site testing and interfaces with engineering team towards to close the anomaly
- Proactive supporting development of resources competency to other T&C team members
- Lead and oversee testing activities ensuring compliance to health and safety project requirements

Experience & Requirements
- College diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of experience and education
- 2-3 years experience in Test and Commissioning in a Railway Environment
- Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment requirements
- Available to work at night, during weekends and on public holidays
- Rigorous & team player
- Resilience, with an analytic way of thinking in order to solve complex system failures
- Customer satisfaction and results orientated
- Able to communicate in an open and clear manner with various stakeholders
- Ability to use new technologies and tools
- Driving license

Other Desirable Experience & Technical Skills
- IRSE Licence Holder or Previously Held
- Signalling Functional Tester 1.3.170 or
- Signalling Electronic Tester 1.3.260
- Knowledge of Alstom Products
- Knowledge of European Train Control System
- CROR certification considered an asset.
- 309 A Construction and Maintenance Electrician considered a strong asset.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel occasionally within Canada or abroad for meetings with management, training or site support.

Compensation
The expected compensation for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
