Original job description

Req ID:533288

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Signalling Installation Estimator in Toronto, ON, we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your cost estimation and project coordination expertise in a transformative and impactful field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and detail-oriented teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada’s busiest public transit system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (procurement, finance, engineering, and installation), manage procurement tracking, and coordinate technical evaluations with subcontractors, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of consolidating cost inputs and preparing target price submissions, but also contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement of estimation processes across project corridors.

We’ll look to you for:

Supporting Signalling Installation Managers in the preparation of target price submissions for multiple project corridors
Consolidating and validating cost inputs across subcontractor quotations, historical data, labour forecasts, tooling, and equipment rentals
Managing and securely tracking the procurement process during the target price phase
Performing technical evaluations of quotations and participating in meetings with subcontractors
Reviewing and structuring QCD files to ensure consistency and transparency
Preparing clear documentation for internal and external client gates
Acting as a transversal interface between multiple teams to ensure alignment and traceability of cost data
Contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement of estimation processes

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 7+ years of professional experience in cost estimation, bids, or tenders, preferably within rail signalling or large construction projects in Canada
Strong understanding of signalling installation activities and subcontractor management
Experience supporting target price or gated estimation processes
Proficiency in MS Excel and cost management tools; experience with QCD or similar frameworks is an asset
Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and parallel deliverables
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and subcontractors

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
Work with cutting-edge security standards for rail signalling
Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
Contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of mobility
This role requires an on-site presence of four (4) days per week. The requirement may be adjusted based on project needs and business priorities.
Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
Progress towards leadership or specialized technical roles
Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Hiring

We do not use artificial intelligence in the recruiting process for this role.

Interview Process & Candidate Communication

Candidates who participate in an interview for this role will be informed of the hiring decision within 45 days of their final interview date.

This job posting represents an existing vacancy.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Important to note

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across the 63 countries we operate in. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
