Day-to-Day Activities :
Electrical Design:
- Design power layouts, cable trays, and conduit routing within compact skid frames.
- Select components such as junction boxes, circuit breakers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and motor control centers (MCCs).
- Specify explosion-proof, intrinsically safe, or non-incendive equipment for skids handling flammable fluids (Class I Div 1/Div 2 or ATEX zones).
Instrumentation:
- Select sensors (transmitters, switches) for process variables like pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
- Ensure instruments fit within tight piping constraints of modular skids.
- Develop Instrument Index sheets, datasheets, and hook-up drawings.
Control Systems:
- Specify automation hardware such as Remote I/O panels, PLCs, or DCS interfaces.
- Design marshalling panels where skid instruments terminate before connecting to the main plant’s control room.
- Translate Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) into actionable control logic.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Electrical/I&C design from concept through detailed design.
- Prepare and review Electrical Wiring Diagrams (EWDs), Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), Cable Block Diagrams (CBDs), General Arrangements (GAs), specifications, and other design documents.
