Job Requirement
- Develop and evolve DevOps tooling and practices for the team
- When needed, build hands-on functionality: Angular frontend, Java/Jakarta EE backend
- Design API contracts, error handling, logging, performance-conscious services
- Automated testing: Jest (frontend) + JUnit 5 (backend)
- Database work: schema creation/modification, queries, basic performance tuning, migrations (Oracle, on-prem, ~70% of business logic lives in the database layer per George)
- Use AI coding tools (Copilot, Windsurf/Devin) responsibly, and integrate LLM components (vector DB e.g. ChromaDB, RAG flows, LangChain/Haystack) - must be able to deliver the work without relying on AI tools, which are an enabler, not a crutch
- Git, code reviews, Maven, Docker (build/package/containerize)
- Agile ceremonies, estimations, communicating progress/risks
- Cross-stack troubleshooting (UI/API/DB/container/runtime)
Must-haves:
- Strong DevOps background, comfortable building/evolving tooling and practices, not just operating existing pipelines Git, Maven, Docker, daily driver level
- Angular 17+, TypeScript 5.x, Angular Material
- Java 17+, Jakarta EE 10
- SQL / relational database fundamentals (queries, joins, indexes, transactions, data modeling)
- Strong fundamentals in HTTP/REST, JSON, authentication/authorization basics, and secure coding practices
- Hands-on AI experience. For example: GitHub Copilot and/or Windsurf/Devin, understanding of vector databases (RAG flows), exposure to LangChain or Haystack, used safely (privacy, correctness, review)
- Oracle / PL-SQL

In accordance with our compensation practices, ALTEN is providing the salary range associated with this opportunity. Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions. The current target salary range for this role is $110k/Annum.
