About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with an established organization to find a hands-on Bookkeeper to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a smaller accounting environment where everyone contributes.

Working closely with a lean, collaborative accounting team, you’ll support the full accounting cycle across multiple operating entities. Your work will touch everything from payroll and invoicing to reconciliations and month-end, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys seeing the full picture and being a trusted resource to the business.

What’s in it for You

You’ll join a close-knit environment where your experience and contributions will have a visible impact. The organization offers three weeks of vacation, health benefits, RRSP matching, and some flexibility around start and end times to support personal commitments.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll manage full-cycle bookkeeping/accounting - accounts payable and receivable, including high-volume invoice processing, customer invoicing and vendor payments.
  • You’ll process bi-weekly payroll and support payroll source deductions, government remittances and union dues.
  • You’ll maintain accurate accounting records across multiple operating entities and sets of books.
  • You’ll complete bank, general ledger and account reconciliations while supporting HST preparation and remittances.
  • You’ll contribute to month-end close activities and ensure accurate, timely financial information.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on, full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally within a small-to-medium-sized organization.
  • Strong experience with AP, AR, payroll, HST, reconciliations and government remittances.
  • Experience processing payroll for an established workforce, with unionized payroll experience considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive, dependable approach and willingness to take on a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who likes being hands-on and taking ownership. If you enjoy variety, can confidently manage the full accounting cycle and are always willing to pitch in when the team needs you, you’ll fit in well here.”
