About the Opportunity

Are you a finance leader who enjoys rolling up your sleeves while helping shape business strategy? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization in the residential construction and design-build industry that is looking for a collaborative Controller to play a key role in its continued growth. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll combine hands-on financial management with strategic insight to help guide important business decisions.

Working closely with executives, project managers, and a dedicated finance team, you'll contribute to an environment where continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration are valued. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an organization that sees finance as a trusted business partner.

What's in it for You

Join a workplace that values collaboration, professional growth, and continuous learning. You'll have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, mentor a talented team, and lead meaningful process improvements while working in a culture that celebrates innovation, accountability, and balance.

Your Responsibilities

You'll lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process while ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
You'll oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning to support organizational goals.
You'll partner with operational leaders to provide project analysis, job costing insights, profitability reporting, and business recommendations.
You'll manage payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, tax compliance, and external audit coordination.
You'll strengthen financial controls, improve accounting processes, and champion automation, AI, and technology initiatives that enhance efficiency and reporting.
You'll coach and develop a small finance team while contributing as a valued member of the leadership team.

Skills and Qualifications

5+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
CPA designation, or equivalent professional accounting credentials, is considered a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of ASPE, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Experience with project accounting, job costing, and work-in-progress reporting, preferably within construction or a project-based environment.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and business management systems.
Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.
A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in leveraging technology and automation to enhance business performance.
