About the Opportunity
Join an innovation-focused team where new ideas are tested against real data before they move forward. This Data Management Analyst role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into unfamiliar and sometimes messy data, uncovering how it works, and turning complexity into insight that teams can confidently act on.
Working within a large healthcare and pharmaceutical environment, you’ll collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand data across legacy platforms, dashboards, extracts, spreadsheets, and back-end systems. You’ll be the person who gets into the data early, challenges assumptions with evidence, and helps determine whether an idea has the foundation to succeed.
What’s In It for You
You’ll gain exposure to high-impact innovation initiatives while working across diverse business and technical teams. This is an opportunity to build deep organizational knowledge, influence important decisions, and create reusable data documentation that makes future projects faster and smarter.
Your Responsibilities
- You’ll profile unfamiliar datasets and assess data quality, feasibility, and readiness for new initiatives.
- You’ll investigate and reconcile data across AS400 environments, user interfaces, BI extracts, Excel files, DataHub environments, and other systems.
- You’ll reuse, adapt, combine, and validate SQL queries and data extracts, explaining discrepancies across sources.
- You’ll own data discovery, lineage, definitions, data dictionaries, documentation, and business rules.
- You’ll identify data gaps, inconsistencies, dependencies, and ambiguities before they impact project delivery.
- You’ll partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand data sources, calculations, processes, and usage.
- You’ll translate findings into clear, decision-ready insights that help determine which ideas move forward.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, or Data Management Analyst in complex data environments.
- Strong hands-on SQL, data profiling, exploratory analysis, data quality, and validation skills.
- Experience working with legacy platforms such as AS400 and fragmented or in-house data environments.
- Strong documentation skills covering data lineage, dictionaries, definitions, governance, and business rules.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge business and technical audiences.
- Familiarity with Alation or similar data governance tools, Power BI, Tableau, data warehouses, or data lakes is an asset.
- Healthcare, pharmaceutical, distribution, innovation, discovery, or R&D experience is considered an asset.
