Original job description

A customer service JOB THAT opens doors

The Opportunity
Seeking a career full of new challenges and opportunities to grow? This could be the fresh start you’re looking for!

You’re already a sales superstar and customer service wiz, but you’re looking for a little more. Bring your skills to the world of insurance and know that every day you’ll be offering Albertans peace of mind and helping protect what’s important to them.

Prior insurance experience is an asset, but cultural fit is key, so we’re willing to cover the cost of your licensing and provide lots of in-house training to set you up for success.

A Place to Belong
AMA is more than a workplace; it’s a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members - everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you’ll enjoy:

Competitive salary and flexible benefits
Employer-paid retirement savings program
Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, and more
Free travel medical insurance for you and your immediate family
Ongoing professional development
Paid vacation and personal days, including a Volunteer Day and Me Day
Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle

Who You Are

You’re the ultimate people-person who’s great at making connections.
You enjoy the thrill of a sale, working towards goals and hitting targets.
You’re passionate about finding the right solutions to fit client needs.
You genuinely care about helping others and providing outstanding customer service.
You get that even the smallest detail can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
You’re ultra-organized and always on time because you know it’s important to clients.
You want a career that will allow you to grow.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Report to Manager, Insurance Agency.
Help clients identify their insurance needs and advise on products and coverages.
Effectively articulate the value of our products and explain pricing in a simple, empathetic, and professional manner.
Support existing clients with questions and updates to their policies.
Proactively follow up on leads and client inquiries to drive new business.
Build relationships with clients to stay informed of their ever-changing needs and retain their business.
Deliver a TYLF (treat you like family) experience in all interactions with clients and co-workers.

What You Bring to the Table

You have a high school diploma or equivalent (bonus points for related post-secondary education and/or industry certifications like a CIP designation).
You have at least 6 months of sales and/or customer service experience (even better if it’s insurance-related). Experience in a call center, retail, or financial services is a strong asset.
This position requires a General Insurance Certificate of Authority Level 1. But don’t worry! If you don’t already have one, we’ll help you earn one and support you with in-house training. See what’s involved.

Belonging Matters Here
AMA is committed to providing an inclusive, respectful, and accessible environment. If you require an accommodation at any time during our recruitment process, please contact recruitment@ama.ab.ca. We’ll work with you feel supported throughout your journey with us.
