Software Engineer

Amaris Consulting is looking for a Software Engineer with strong SQL and C# expertise to join a product engineering team working on data-intensive .NET web applications.

You’ll design and build both the user interface and backend of web applications, working with C#, Blazor, Entity Framework Core and SQL Server. The role focuses on database and application development, with a high level of autonomy and ownership.

Deep SQL knowledge is essential for this position. You should be comfortable designing database solutions, writing complex queries and working directly with large volumes of data.

Your responsibilities

• Design and build the user interface and backend of .NET web applications.
• Develop application features using C#, Blazor, ASP.NET and Entity Framework Core.
• Design, query and optimize relational databases using SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Scope technical work, prepare initial estimates and support them with clear reasoning.
• Participate in technical design discussions, whiteboarding sessions and code reviews.
• Present technical ideas and explain design decisions to technical stakeholders.
• Independently design and implement complex processes with limited supervision.
• Assess technical options and make informed design decisions based on impact and feasibility.
• Define implementation milestones and testing processes.
• Write thorough unit tests using the team’s tools and standards.
• Use AI-assisted development and data-processing tools to automate tasks and process large volumes of data.
• Contribute to a structured, milestone-driven delivery process.

Must-have qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in database development.
• Advanced or expert-level skills in C# and .NET.
• Expert-level SQL skills, including T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Hands-on experience developing full-stack web applications with C# and Blazor.
• Experience working with Visual Studio.
• Demonstrated use of AI development or data-processing tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
• A positive and practical approach to AI-assisted development.
• Ability to work independently, define technical solutions and deliver complex features with limited supervision.
• Working proficiency in English.

Nice-to-have qualifications

• Experience with ASP.NET, JavaScript and Entity Framework Core.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or SQL Server 2025.
• Experience with stored procedures, query optimization and relational database design.
• Experience processing large volumes of data with AI, including parsing, categorization or automation.
• Exposure to Azure or the Microsoft Copilot ecosystem.
• Strong unit-testing practices.
• Experience working in a product engineering environment.
• Knowledge of data pipelines or microservices.

Expected Compensation Range:

90K-120K The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.

Canadian Experience Requirement:

No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
