We are seeking a strategic, data-driven professional to join as Sr Manager, Theatrical Distribution & Analytics Strategy. This role is responsible for managing the analytical infrastructure and data intelligence that powers Amazon’s Canadian theatrical distribution strategy - including box office forecasting, predictive modeling, performance reporting, and slate analytics - while also contributing to planning and booking content in theatres. The ideal candidate is a rigorous analyst with deep expertise in business intelligence and data-driven decision-making, coupled with a strong understanding of theatrical distribution and the global film landscape.
This position is based in Toronto, Canada, and reports to the Head of International Theatrical Distribution.
Key job responsibilities
• Own and manage all internal and external box office reporting functions, including pre- and post-release performance tracking, variance analysis, and trend identification across territories
• Develop and maintain predictive models and dashboards to forecast film performance, providing actionable insights that optimize in-market execution and long-term strategy
• Conduct deep-dive quantitative analysis on theatrical content investments, slate strategy, business planning, and distribution performance; identify sources of variance and recommend corrective actions
• Design and execute ad-hoc analytical projects including box office benchmarking, emerging markets performance, regional moviegoing patterns, and competitive landscape assessments
• Build and manage a dynamic Canadian box office data and analytics system; gather technical and business requirements, construct project roadmaps, and liaise with technical teams to ensure successful implementation
• Author business-driving documents that surface key data insights and provide analytically grounded recommendations for content strategy and go-forward planning
• Conduct industry research using quantitative and qualitative methods to identify box office trends and opportunities that inform movie investment decisions and slate strategy
• Support long-term strategic planning for Amazon MGM Studios, including distribution analysis, new business models, and cross-functional opportunities
• Manage Exhibitor accounts, book Amazon MGM content with theatrical partners.
• Evaluate business development opportunities, growth initiatives, and strategic partnerships for Amazon MGM Studios' theatrical business
• Coordinate with international territory sales and operational teams to drive accessibility, box office performance, and profitability, aligning local release strategy with global studio objectives
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with territory Sales and Marketing teams, data providers, finance, operations, and other Amazon entertainment portfolio teams
• Collaborate across internal Amazon divisions to foster positive relationships, optimize data sharing, and drive strategic projects from concept to execution
• Proactively identify key industry trends and assess their impact on international distribution and the broader theatrical landscape
Basic Qualifications:
- Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, consulting, investment banking, corporate development, or a similar role within the media and entertainment industry or distribution within the media and entertainment industry (e.g., theatrical distribution, business intelligence, strategy consulting, or a comparable analytical role)
- Proven analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, forecasting, analysis, and financial reporting. • Experience using complex modeling and analysis to inform key business decisions. Candidates must be highly proficient in Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
- Experience designing and managing reporting systems, dashboards, and predictive models to inform key business decisions
- Excellent interpersonal relationship client management, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analytical findings clearly, concisely, and persuasively

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving mindset with extreme attention to detail
- Proactive approach with willingness to offer ideas and take initiative to develop and enhance analytical processes
- Ability to work effectively with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
