Amazon Private Brands (APB) is reinventing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) with AI at its core. Private Brands Central (PBC) is our PLM platform, and we're building a new generation of AI-native experiences, from Gen AI copilots that accelerate new product development to agentic workflows that automate the manual, high-dwell steps in bringing a product to market. This is a chance to put Gen AI to work on real, high-volume product workflows and see the efficiency gains land.
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer III who's comfortable at all levels of the stack to design, build, and operate AI-powered systems at Amazon scale. Whether it's building customer-facing experiences in React, creating Java-based web APIs, or embedding Gen AI and agentic capabilities into sourcing, quality, sustainability, and detail-page workflows, this is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will own complex, ambiguous problems end to end, drive architecture and design decisions for AI-native systems, and partner with a leading 3P PLM solution to build out an integrated, AI-enabled platform. Your work will directly shape how thousands of APB products are sourced, developed, and launched.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate full-stack AI-powered systems across the PBC PLM platform, including Gen AI copilots and agentic workflows.
- Lead architecture and technical design for embedding Gen AI, LLMs, and automation into new product development workflows, working backwards from customer needs.
- Solve challenging problems involving distributed systems, agentic orchestration, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Drive technical decisions across team and 3P-vendor boundaries to deliver integrated, AI-enabled capabilities.
- Own your systems end to end, including production operations, model behavior, and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers on AI-native design patterns and raise the team's technical bar.
A day in the life
You'll balance hands-on delivery with the technical leadership the team relies on across development cycles measured in weeks, not years. Your day involves designing and reviewing complex systems, collaborating with engineers and applied scientists on Gen AI design decisions, and aligning with APB business partners and the 3P vendor on integrated PLM delivery. You'll spend time mentoring engineers, unblocking hard technical problems, and setting the standards that let the team ship AI-powered experiences customers can feel.
About the team
This team builds functional modules within the Private Brands Central Product Lifecycle Management tool to accelerate speed to market for new product development for Amazon Private Brands (APB) and reduce dwell time for specific processes, increasingly powered by Gen AI and automation. Examples include: developing an externalized module for sourcing Request For Quotations (RFQs) from APB suppliers, launching an automated process to manage sustainability and quality related claims for APB products, and automating ASIN and Detail Page creation on Amazon systems. The team is partnering with a 3P solution to build out an integrated PLM tool with an industry-leading software solution.

- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers, or experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU or other AI acceleration hardware
- Experience in similar environments, or experience working with and managing third party vendors
