Original job description
To help meet these goals, we are looking for a passionate, talented Software Development Engineer. We are looking for someone who innovates, loves solving hard problems, and looks for 'yes' as the answer. As a Software Development Engineer, you will develop services using your expertise and experience with a variety of technologies. You will deep-dive into distributed systems to design and optimize for performance, maintainability, scalability, and extensibility. You will innovate and scale services, addressing problems that span new feature development to new system creation. You will design and write clean, maintainable code and integrate data from a large number of services. And you will contribute to the development of yourself and colleagues through peer code-reviews and mentoring, improving the technical knowledge and engineering practices of your team.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate features that scale and extend the Amazon Store experience on Echo Show and Fire devices.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews, both giving and receiving thoughtful feedback.
- Contribute to systems that render the Amazon store in real time, keep it in sync, and support conversational, multimodal shopping flows.
- Help extend the experience to new surfaces and international marketplaces, working through ambiguity where there is no existing playbook.
- Own your components end-to-end through livesite operations - monitoring, on-call participation, and continuous improvement of reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, science, product, and design partners across Alexa Shopping, including teammates in Seattle across time zones.
- Contribute ideas to technical designs, ask good questions, and grow your scope and autonomy over time with support from senior engineers and mentors.
About the team
You'll join Pricing Error Detection (PED), part of Amazon's Pricing Shared Services. Our job is simple to say and hard to do: make sure no customer ever sees a price that's wrong, too low for Amazon to sustain or too high for customers to trust. We review hundreds of millions of price decisions every week, before and after they go live, across Amazon's marketplaces worldwide. To do that, we build LLM-based agents that check prices against live signals from across the web, and machine learning models that judge whether each price makes sense. Together they catch errors, correct them, and stop them from happening again. If you want to put the latest GenAI to work at Amazon scale, where every decision protects both customers and the business, we'd love to talk. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
