Original job description

AWS Canada drives adoption of the AWS cloud across Enterprise customers, enabling organizations to innovate, and transform their business. We are seeking a Solutions Architect to act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers design and build scalable, secure, and innovative cloud solutions by working backward from their business challenges.

In this role, you will partner with customers, sales, and cross-functional AWS teams to guide complex technology decisions and accelerate adoption. You will design architectures and build prototypes to help customers deliver business outcomes. This role offers continuous learning opportunities while working with the latest technologies and helping customers unlock new opportunities through innovation.

Key job responsibilities
- Design scalable, secure cloud architectures to support migration, modernization, and the development of cloud-native and AI-driven solutions
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor and customer advocate, helping customers identify both opportunities and risks in their technical decisions while proactively anticipating their evolving needs
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions and communicating complex concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders
- Develop and deliver technical content such as workshops, prototypes, and presentations and speak at events to help customers evaluate and adopt new technologies
- Lead technical discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and proof-of-concept activities to guide customer decision-making and drive innovation
- Contribute to organizational growth by providing product feedback to AWS engineering teams, participating in recruiting and interviewing, and mentoring teammates

A day in the life
Your day as a Solutions Architect blends customer engagement, technical design, and hands-on building. You’ll meet with customers to understand their goals, design architectures to address their needs, and lead technical discussions to explore solutions. You build prototypes to help customers evaluate approaches, collaborate with account teams on next steps, or share best practices that accelerate adoption. Throughout the day, you’ll stay current with evolving technologies and continuously apply what you learn to help customers move forward with confidence.

About the team
AWS Canada supports customers across the country, helping them adopt cloud technologies and accelerate innovation. The Solutions Architecture team works closely with customers and internal partners to design practical, scalable solutions tailored to each organization’s needs.

We value curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning, and are motivated by the opportunity to help customers solve meaningful problems and build what’s next on AWS. At AWS, we live by the principle: Work hard. Have fun. Make history.

Solutions Architects continuously develop their skills while helping customers move from initial ideas to building and scaling modern, cloud-native and AI-driven solutions. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- Experience with enterprise architecture including virtualization technologies and distributed architecture
- Experience explaining complex technical concepts to various business and technical audiences
- 3–5 years of experience in solutions architecture, technical advisory, or a similar customer-facing technical role
- Strong technical foundation in cloud architecture, data, AI/ML, and software development
- Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Familiarity with modern architectures such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems Preferred Qualifications: - Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.
- Experience with presentations and speaking with executives, IT, management, and developers
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience building or prototyping cloud, data, or AI/ML solutions
- Experience designing or implementing AI/ML solutions, including Generative AI and Agentic applications
- Experience with scripting, automation, or software development in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar
