Original job description

Ambient Mechanical is seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Technical Sales Engineer to represent our Electrical and Building Automation Systems (BAS) Division within the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) market.

This is a hands-on technical sales and business development role for someone who understands the field, sees opportunities, and knows how to turn technical challenges into practical solutions for our clients.

What You’ll Do

Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities within the ICI market.
Generate work including electrical distribution upgrades, panel replacements and retrofits, BAS upgrades and retrofits, motor controls, VFD applications and related electrical/controls projects.
Develop strong, long-term relationships with building owners, facility managers, contractors, consultants and industry professionals.
Visit jobsites and client facilities to assess existing systems, identify opportunities and develop practical solutions.
Work closely with Ambient’s Electrical, Mechanical and BAS teams to develop scopes, proposals and solutions.
Build credibility with clients by understanding both the electrical and HVAC sides of building systems and how they interact.
Proactively pursue opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and BAS field work, technical sales, contracting or a related role.
Strong understanding of electrical distribution, motor controls, VFDs and BAS systems.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems and the interaction between mechanical systems, controls and electrical power.
Strong field credibility with both electricians and HVAC technicians.
A proactive, self-directed approach with the drive to identify and pursue opportunities.
Strong communication, relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
Ability to understand a client’s needs, develop a solution and clearly communicate its value.
Comfortable working independently while collaborating with project management, service, electrical, mechanical and BAS teams.
