Senior Lentils Trader

Ampersand World is conducting a confidential search on behalf of an established agricultural commodities trading company with integrated sourcing, processing and international export operations in Canada.

As part of its long-term succession planning, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Lentils

Trader with an established customer portfolio and a proven track record in international physical trading.

The company sources lentils directly from Canadian farmers, operates its own processing facilities and exports primarily through containerised shipments to international markets.

The Position

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing and developing the company's international lentils trading activities, with a particular focus on Southern Europe and South

America.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage and develop an international portfolio of lentils customers.
• Generate business through an established network of importers and buyers.
• Negotiate and execute physical trading transactions.
• Develop export volumes while maintaining commercial profitability.
• Identify new customers and business opportunities across existing markets.
• Coordinate closely with Canadian sourcing, processing and logistics operations.
• Gradually assume commercial responsibilities as part of a planned succession.

The Profile:

We are looking for an established physical trader who knows the lentils market, understands its commercial dynamics and can bring immediate value through existing customer relationships.

Essential requirements:

• Proven experience in international physical lentils trading.
• An established and active customer portfolio, ideally in Southern Europe and/or South America.
• Strong relationships with international importers, distributors or industrial buyers.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage and develop a trading book.
• Solid understanding of physical commodity transactions, pricing, margins and execution.
• Familiarity with containerised agricultural exports.
• Strong commercial judgement, autonomy and a relationship-driven approach.
• Experience in Canadian-origin pulses trading and direct exposure to supply chains would be particularly valuable.
