Role : Manual Tester (Media & Entertainment)
Location : Brampton, ON
Exp: 5+
Role Summary
Execute and own manual functional, regression, interoperability, and service validation testing across STB/Connected TV, OTT streaming applications, and Home Security platforms. Drive defect investigation, root cause analysis, and KPI validation to support high-quality customer experiences.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong experience in Media & Entertainment domain with STB and OTT/Streaming platforms.
- Testing experience across Web, iOS, Android, Smart TVs, Fire TV, Apple TV, or similar platforms.
- Validation of Live TV, VOD, DVR, EPG, Search, Playback, Parental Controls, and Accessibility features.
- Understanding of OTT streaming technologies such as HLS, DASH, DRM, CDN, and adaptive bitrate streaming.
- Experience in Home Security testing including sensors, cameras, doorbells, locks, alarm panels, thermostats, and companion mobile apps.
- Experience in test planning, test case/scenario creation, test data preparation, requirement analysis, test execution.
- Hands-on interoperability testing involves device pairing, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, gateways/modems, and connected-home ecosystems.
- Strong defect debugging and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills using application, device, and network logs.
- Hands-on experience with log analysis and troubleshooting tools such as ADB Logcat, Kibana, Splunk, Charles Proxy, Wireshark, or similar tools for issue investigation and validation.
- Experience with Jira or similar test management tool, execution tracking, and defect lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of basic networking fundamentals such as Wi-Fi, IP connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and device onboarding.
- Experience validating performance KPIs include app launch time, playback start time, tune latency, reboot time, and UI responsiveness.
Good to Have
- Telecom, broadband, cable TV, or connected-home domain experience.
- Exposure to large-scale regression/service validation programs.
- Basic scripting or automation knowledge.
- Experience with knowledge transfer and test suite transition activities.
- ISTQB Certification.
